Public Relations Association Of Mississippi Scholarship SCHOLARSHIP NEWS CPRAM offers scholarship at two/four-year schools State college public relations officials are doing their part to encourage students to continue their interest in the area of communication at Mississippi’s two and four-year colleges with two $500 scholarships. Students applying for the CPRAM (College Public Relations Association of Mississippi) scholarship must be majoring in one of the following fields of study: public relations, communications, journalism, advertising, mass communications, political communications, crisis management, graphic design, or other communication-oriented major. The scholarships could be awarded to a student entering or enrolled at the state’s two-year colleges or the state’s four-year colleges. The student must also be a full-time student. Scholarship applicants must be in good standing and present three letters of recommendation from individuals connected to his/her academic institution. This includes college advisors, high school teacher/official, home-school teacher, etc. Students may be recommended by an active CPRAM member. The applicants must complete in full the scholarship application and have it returned to the scholarship committee no later than Feb. 26, 2010. Applicants also must include a 500-word essay entitled, “What I Hope To Offer The Field of Communication.” Students receiving the scholarship can be awarded the scholarship for more than one year, but they must re-apply every year. The scholarship committee reserves the right to make its decision based on need, merit and the number of applicants each year. CPRAM reserves the right to withdraw this scholarship if a student withdraws from school during the award year, changes his/her major, fails to maintain a 2.0 GPA or other grave instances of misconduct. The committee will announce the winner(s) during its annual conference held in May 2010. The scholarship will then be awarded for the 2010 fall term. SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS AND PROCEDURE In order to encourage the growth and professional development of students interested in obtaining a degree in the areas of communication, the College Public Relations Association (CPRAM) will award one $1000 scholarship to an undergraduate student entering or enrolled in an accredited two-year institution of higher learning; and one $1000 scholarship to an undergraduate student entering or enrolled in a four-year institution of higher learning. 1. Applicant must be in good standing and present three letters of recommendation from individuals connected to his/her academic institution. This includes college advisors, high school teacher/official, home-school teacher, etc. Students may be recommended by an active CPRAM member in lieu of, or in conjunction with those listed above. 2. Applicant must complete in full the CPRAM Scholarship Application and return it to the CPRAM scholarship committee on or before the deadline of Feb. 15, 2009. Application must be accompanied by letters of recommendation. The application can be found at cpram.org. 3. CPRAM reserves the right to reject any or all applicants. 8. Applicants must be considered full-time students at their institutions. 9. The scholarship can be withdrawn and a payback policy stipulated under the following circumstances: 1) withdrawal from school before year for which funds were expended is completed. 2) change of major to non-communication major. 3) failure to maintain a 2.0 GPA on a 4 point scale. 4) grave instances of misconduct. 10. Applicants must attend an accredited institution in the state of Mississippi. This stipulation reaffirms the organization that distributes the scholarship - the College Public Relations Association of Mississippi. 11. No student will be discriminated against based on race, religion, age, gender, or financial situation. |
